French Bulldogs d'Assisi 

My dear sweet "squishy" Helyn...  Gone way too soon and unexpectedly on the heels of her father, Hank.  I suspect they wanted to be together, as they were always acutely aware that they were father and daughter... don't ask me how they knew, but trust me, they did!   They bonded the moment she arrived at our house and she was always her father's daughter... 

Helyn was the sweetest girl around, never caused a moment's trouble... and always eager to be with me...  I called her my squishy girl as she was moldable... You see, I could hold her and position her any which way and she didn't care so long as I held her.  She too slept in bed since the day she came home, although her spot was under the covers on my left side... every night like clockwork she would stare at me and wait for me to lift the covers up so she could burrow down... Always a princess... known to be spotted in pink boas and the like, she loved her job as matriarch here at Assisi...  She adored being a mother and I affectionately called her my "stepford mom" as when she had babies, she was all business.  She never wanted to wean them, often letting them sneak some milk when they were way too old!  And she loved her kids and mothered them all up until the day she passed...  there is no doubt that motherhood was her calling and where she excelled!  I am lucky and honored to have 2 of her wonderful children here to carry on, Purl and Doug.  Never a Champion herself, she left an amazing legacy of 4 Champions and 3 more pointed, and 6 children who passed all the OFA testing I could throw at them! 

Although as with her father, she was way beyond a show dog and spectacular producer to me - she was my squishy Helyn who was a GOOD  and sweet girl...  She would greet vistors with a bone strewn between her teeth like a cigar and never put it down as if to say, look at what I have!  She would even take it with her to pee!  My heart will never be the same without my sweet Hell-Bells...  she was taken from me too soon and I miss her dearly...
